Akari 26A is a pendant lamp from Vitra designed by the architect and designer Isamu Noguchi in 1951. The lamp is held up by a structure of steel wire and is made by hand in shoji paper, paper made from the bark of mulberry trees. Akari 26A is part of the Akari lamp series, a series of lamps designed by Noguchi and hand-made by Japanese craftsmen. Noguchi's work is artistically linked to abstract expressionism and his style came to have a major influence on 1950s design. All light sculptures in the Akari series are marked with a logo representing the sun and the moon, which confirms the authenticity of each product.
