Rampa is a multifunctional piece of furniture created by the brothers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1965. The furniture is produced today by the Danish quality brand Karakter and comes in two versions, either entirely in smoked oak or oiled oak with smoked oak details. On one side of the furniture, the staircase functions as a bookcase with a compartment in the lower, large step that closes with a flap door. On the opposite side of Rampa, there are two visible compartments for storage and a larger, fold-out tabletop that reveals two more compartments and six drawers. Despite its size, Rampa can be moved around easily thanks to the four castors on its underside, two of which have brakes. The Castiglioni brothers were inspired to create Rampa by the traditional stalls set up by florists in Italy in squares around their homeland.
