Akari 9AD is a table lamp designed by Isamu Noguchi in 1951 as part of his Akari light sculptures for the Vitra brand. Akari 9AD is, like all lamps in the Akari series, handmade by Japanese craftsmen in shoji paper. Shoji paper is a Japanese paper that comes from the bark of the mulberry tree. The paper structure is in turn embraced by bamboo wood and held up by black lacquered steel legs. Akari 9AD can also be used perfectly as a floor lamp. All light sculptures in the Akari series are marked with a logo representing the sun and the moon, which confirms the authenticity of each product.
