The Aluminum Group chair from Vitra is one of the most significant pieces of design furniture from the 20th century. It was created back in 1958 by Charles and Ray Eames on behalf of an art collector in Columbus, Indiana, to be placed in their private residence. For this chair, the Eames couple departed from their previous shell chair designs and instead stretched a piece of fabric or leather between two aluminum profiles to create an elastic seat. This construction provides outstanding comfort even without padding.

Aluminum Group is available in various designs and can be covered in leather, fabric (such as Hopsak) or a type of fabric (Netweave). The version with leather upholstery has leather on the front and fabric (Plano) on the back. This chair is versatile and fits just as well at home as in the office or in public settings. Its incredibly high quality is reflected in the fact that the manufacturer can offer a 30-year warranty on this chair.
