Toogood
Founded in 2008, Toogood is a London-based design studio started by Faye Toogood. She has a BA in Art History from the University of Bristol and has been the Interiors Editor of The World of Interiors for eight years. Toogood's work spans interior design, home furnishings, art and fashion. Faye sees herself as someone who is not limited to one type of work and allows her team to work across genres to create projects that are poetic with a unique avant-garde feel.
Toogood creates furniture with a sculptural character that has a strong geometry and form. The pieces are either made to order or in limited editions as gallery pieces made by artisans using raw fiberglass, aluminum, barium crystal and other materials. In addition, all works are handmade by small-scale manufacturers and traditional craftsmen, making each product unique thanks to their ability to preserve the character of the material.
Exclusive and original design
Toogood has supplied much interior design for private clients, with the Mayfair apartment of a couple of art collectors being a notable example. It featured furniture that was all handmade and bespoke by Faye Toogood. The penthouse at Tapestry in King's Cross was impressive with large and highly textured surfaces, with a colour palette inspired by passing clouds. Another notable achievement from the agency was Casa Paloma, a seven-bedroom villa in Ibiza where Faye Toogood executed every detail of the interior design and even managed to create the wall art on display within it. Not only this, but they have also made significant progress with commercial fashion clients, such as designing the Mulberry store on Regent Street in London.
Toogood also works in clothing and fashion. The sister of Faye, Erica Toogood, co-founded the company and on the fashion side the craftsmanship is celebrated. Each garment is based on a traditional trade, such as the 'Metalworker' jacket or the 'Stonemason' trousers. These garments have the character of both sisters, as Faye focuses primarily on materials while Erica creates unique shapes. The brand has become a favourite among customers with its exclusive and original range.
