The Pollock Arm Chair was designed by Charles Pollock for Knoll in 1960 and was originally produced between 1964 and 1979 but was put back into production in 2015. The chair is also known as the ?Sling Chair? or ?657? Through the years, the Pollock Arm Chair has become a true design icon, thanks to an early, modern design. The outer frame and legs are made of chrome-plated and polished steel, the inner frame, and armrests are made of cast aluminum with a black finish. The seat and backrest are made of cowhide, available in three colors. The seat cushion is made of foam and upholstered in Vellutto Pelle leather.
After studying at the Pratt Institute in New York, Pollock presented his sketches to Vincent Cafiero, Senior Designer at Knoll. Cafiero saw potential in the young talent and gave him an opportunity to develop a chair for Knoll. Pollock created a chair remarkably like today's Pollock Arm Chair, the rest is history.
