The Bertoia Side Chair from Knoll was designed by Harry Bertoia in 1952 and has become a modern design icon. The chair is part of Bertoia's popular collection of sculpted steel furniture. The seat is created from welded, bent steel struts and rests on a base with steel medallions. Bertoia Side Chair is available with a chrome-plated and polished finish for indoor use, or with a Rilsan finish that can also be used outdoors.

Bertoia was mostly known as a sculptor and designed only one furniture collection. Although he did not work primarily as an interior designer, his pieces were highly regarded and are sold around the world today.
