Kaufmann Table is a table that Finn Juhl originally designed in 1945 for his own home, but since in 2011 it is in production by House of Finn Juhl. The table is made entirely by hand and is made of oak with a walnut veneered top. Kaufmann Table stands out from the crowd with its unusually refined edge profile. The unique edge profile gives the illusion that the table top is suspended above the table frame. To further enhance this effect, Kaufmann Table has an oak base and a walnut veneer top. The combination of these materials makes the difference between the worn element in the form of the walnut table top and the worn element in the form of the light oak frame. The TV screen under the table is finished with a mesh detail on the top, giving the table a visually exclusive look while protecting the wood from dirt should you wish to rest your hands on it.
It is visual and functional details that make Finn Juhl's designs unique and have made him such a respected designer around the world. Since the table was never named by Finn Juhl, the House of Finn Juhl has chosen to dedicate it to Edgar Kaufmann Jr. who was a lifelong friend of Finn Juhl and introduced him to the American market.
