PK24 is a reclining chair designed by Poul Kjærholm for Fritz Hansen in 1965. PK24 has also been known as the Hammock chair, a name Kjærholm himself coined to underline the technically advanced construction of the design. The PK24 demonstrates Kjærholm's talent for designing furniture with free-standing parts. The main elements of the case are held in place solely by gravity and friction. The user's body weight is stylishly balanced between two points. The seat rests on a satin-brushed stainless steel frame and features an adjustable lumbar headrest held in place by a stainless steel counterweight. The PK24 is available in two finishes, with leather trim in an exclusive selection of leather types, or in hand-rubbed leather. This model is in rattan and the cushion can be found in several assorted colors. The inspiration behind PK24 comes from the Rococo period and a classic French chaise longue.
