In basement premises in Stockholm, Thomas Mortensen began making cushions and quilts with genuine down in 1952. This small business grew to become Engmo Dun, producer of Scandinavia’s finest down quilts and pillows. Engmo Dun was inspired by providing good conditions for a good rest, and designs accordingly.

They have developed different product lines with several variants for you to find the perfect down quilt or pillow according to how your body perceives temperature during the night; it’s all very personal. Down is a natural material that can retain heat while breathing and helping to maintain a comfortable temperature. Engmo Dun uses goose down, producing large, airy products, and Muscovy down, which is similar to eider down, the finest and lightest down.

All the down the company uses in its products comes from Europe, and the production process follows strict EU rules, which means that the down can be traced and controlled from picking to washing, sterilization and sorting. Engmo Dun’s down products are also guaranteed free from allergens and chemicals, with approval from several independent organizations including KoTex Standard 100 and Downafresh. The company tests down from suppliers in its own independent testing laboratory, which is approved by the European Down and Feather Association (EDFA), and carries out certification and testing for other suppliers. Engmo Dun grew steadily after 1952 and became a purveyor to the Royal Court in 1986. Today the brand is run by Camilla Birkegaard and Peter Bogh Petersen, and the company continues to design quilts and pillows with the finest European down.
