CH37 is a simple armchair from Carl Hansen, designed by Hans J. Wegner. Despite its solid wood and modest forms, the chair offers a very high level of comfort. This is because Wegner, as often is the case, has taken into account the contours of the body in his design. The hand-woven paper cord also provides good elasticity while ensuring a stable seating experience. The legs taper gracefully, creating a visual lightness.
As Carl Hansen manufactures CH37 in solid oak, the chair remains durable for an incredibly long time with minimal maintenance. You can choose between a soaped, black-lacquered, oiled, or white-oiled surface with a natural-colored seat. In contrast to the black-lacquered version of beech, black-lacquered oak comes with a distinct wood grain and a higher gloss level.
Many are aware of Hans J. Wegner's admiration for the furniture born out of the Shaker movement. With its unassuming exterior, incredible quality, and solid seating comfort, CH37 is one of the greatest proofs of that. The chair was designed in 1962, originally alongside the dining table CH327 and the closely related chair CH36. Its neutral appearance makes the chair optimal for both home and public spaces.
