Tolomeo by Artemide is a classic and functional lamp series that has taken the world by storm since the first version was designed by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina in 1987. The Tolomeo Basculante floor lamp was designed in 2004. What has made Tolomeo so popular is the flexibility of adjusting the entire lamp body with one hand to direct the light exactly where it is needed. The arm, joints, and weight of the lamp are made of polished aluminum and the shade can be made of parchment paper or gray satin fabric.
Tolomeo is available in several versions and when Michele De Lucchi designed the first one, he expressed that "no desk lamp should make you use two hands to set it correctly. In addition to the flexible and easy-to-handle body, all variants have in common that they stand for simple function, elegance, and solid craftsmanship. In 1989, Tolomeo's designers received the Compasso d'Oro.
