HAY

Rolf Hay established the Danish furniture company Hay in 2002. The company’s ambition is to create modern furniture produced through sophisticated, industrial manufacturing to meet the needs of the modern home. In 2003, Hay launched its first collection at imm cologne.

By then, Mette Hay was also working for the company, working with her husband to develop Hay’s first accessories collection. The aim was to encourage Danish fashion design to find its way back to its absolute heyday of the 1950s and 60s, but from a contemporary perspective. The brand stood out with its appetite for new technologies, new materials and new ways of living with furniture in a changing world where our habits and needs for flexibility are also constantly evolving. Through a strong commitment to the design and production of furniture, lighting, and accessories with an international reputation, Hay strives to create good design for as many people as possible.

Innovative design at the forefront

Inspired by the stable structures of architecture and the dynamics of fashion, Hay combines the values of these two industries in the form of high-quality products that create added value for the user. Hay’s continued vision is to create simple, functional and esthetically pleasing designs in collaboration with some of the world’s most talented, inquisitive and daring designers. Hay’s many partnerships with promising new designers and more established names provide an exciting range of interesting interior design pieces and furniture. The Hay range includes products designed by well-known designers from the past and present, such as Børge Mogensen, GamFratesi and the Bouroullec brothers. Hay also collaborates with Komplot Design. Together they have developed the Nobody chair, a one-piece, stackable chair made of molded plastic and covered with felt. With its innovative design, Nobody was an industrial sensation when launched and embodied much of what Hay stands for in terms of durability, modern production technology, and accessibility.
