Mirror Ball Gold by Tom Dixon is one of the most identifiable icons of British lighting design. Designed in 2002, the iconic pendulum was the result of what was first seen as a failure. The lamp body, which from the outset was to be a completely mirror-like sphere that blends into its surroundings, resulted in an object that is highly reflective and at the same time transparent in its lower part, allowing the pendulum to emit an ambient and broad light. Its mirror-like surface is derived from the manufacturing process of vacuum coating the polycarbonate body of the lamp with thin layers of metals.
Mirror Ball refers to space skies and retro disco balls and thus becomes a striking object in the room in which it is placed.
