Mirror Ball Gold by Tom Dixon is one of the most identifiable icons of British lighting design. Designed in 2002, the iconic pendulum was a success from what was first seen as a failure. The lamp body that was originally intended to be a completely mirrorless sphere that blends into its surroundings resulted in an object that is highly reflective yet transparent at its base allowing the pendant to emit an ambient and wide range of light. The mirror-like surface of the lamp comes from the manufacturing process of coating the polycarbonate body of the lamp with thin layers of metals under vacuum.
Mirror Ball refers to space helmets and retro disco balls, making it an intriguing object in the room it is placed in. Place Mirror Ball Gold alone, in a group or in a combination of different sizes and together with Mirror Ball Chrome to create an exciting graphic lighting scheme in the home or in a public setting.
