Series 3300 is an early series of seating designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1956 for Fritz Hansen and was presented in 1960 at the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. In addition to this sofa, the series also included a television sofa and a three-seater sofa. The frame of the sofa is made of a wooden frame surrounded by cold foam. The chair is available in a wide range of fabrics and colors. The frame is made of chrome-plated steel.
The 3300 series was created with inspiration from a sofa Jacobsen originally designed for his home in the 1940s. With its clean lines and square shapes, Series 3300 provided a tasteful contrast to the rounded forms of the Gallery and Swan at the SAS Royal Hotel. During Jacobsen's work on the hotel, he handled the full design concept, down to the smallest detail, from the outdoor facade and the furniture to the cutlery in the restaurant. A series of icons were launched alongside the Series 3300. The design concept was a success and is known as Jacobsen's work of art that put Danish design on the world map.
