The CH25 lounge chair is one of Hans J. Wegner's absolute classics and was also one of the very first pieces of furniture he designed for Carl Hansen & Søn. The CH25 was designed in 1949 and went into production the following year. The lounge chair was innovative for its time and garnered much attention from the start because Wegner was the first to replace seagrass, the typical choice for seats, with a new waxed paper cord. This has had a significant impact on the entire brand's range, as well as on subsequent generations of designers.
Here, you see the CH25 lounge chair in solid walnut, accompanied by a seat and back in naturally colored paper cord. For the frame, you can choose between a clear-lacquered or oiled finish. Behind the chair, there is also an immense craftsmanship, where the most skilled artisans take a full 10 hours to weave the beautiful seat from nearly 400 meters of cord.
