Tobi-Ishi is a dining table as much a sculpture as a piece of furniture for the home. Tobi-Ishi was developed in 2014 by design duo Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby for Italian B&B Italia and has been seen in high-end interiors around the world. The simple yet unique design consists of three large blocks that together form a harmonious unit.
Designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby are very fond of Japanese culture and art, with Tobi-Ishi clearly inspired by Zen. Both the name and the concept behind the table come from the round stones placed near ornaments in Japanese Zen gardens, and the stones are specifically called Tobi-Ishi.
Tobi-Ishi is available in several variations, with a rectangular table top and a round top such as this model. The table is also available in two exclusive designs made entirely of white or black marble.
