Jean-Marie Massaud designed Terminal 1 for B&B Italia in 2008. Terminal 1 is a combination of a chaise longue and an armchair, resulting in a modern yet sculptural piece of furniture. The seat is made of hard polyurethane and upholstered with flexible Bayfit foam, wrapped in Gamma leather. The outer shell is painted with a glossy finish and is available in three assorted colors. The seat rests on a sturdy steel base with a matte painted finish in the same color as the shell.
The experimental design mixes matte and glossy surfaces with hard and soft shapes, challenging the classic recliner. The raised backrest acts as a backrest and allows the recliner to be used as a bench or armchair.
