The Beehive A331 ceiling pendant was designed by Alvar Aalto in 1953 for the Finnish furniture manufacturer Artek. Originally designed for the University of Jyväskylä in Finland, the lamp became so popular that it was put into production. The decorative A331 has since become one of Artek's most popular fixtures as it is as sculptural when switched off as it is when lit. The lamp is equally at home above the dining table, or in the kitchen or living room, and its stylish design immediately draws the eye.
Beehive A331 is made of a lacquered aluminum shade with polished and chrome-plated steel rings. It is available in two options, either with a white shade and brass rings, a white shade with chrome rings, or a monochrome luminaire with a white shade and white rings. The cord of the lamp is covered in white.
