Original 1227 Desk Lamp With Clamp was designed by George Carwardine in 1935 and is a variant of the classic desk lamp that is part of the Anglepoise Original 1227 collection. The clamp is made of cast iron coated with steel and the arm and shade of the lamp are made of aluminium. The desk lamp is available in several high-gloss colors as well as a light chrome version, and all designs have chrome details. The desk lamp is built with mechanical springs that George invented back in 1931 for the automotive industry, which makes the lamp's adjustable arm both flexible and functional.
