In the 1940s, the family business GANDIABLASCO was founded by the Spaniard José Gandía Blasco. At the end of the 1980s, the current president and son of the founder, José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales, decided to renew the company with the help of Sergio Pastor. New collections in home textiles were developed, and a strong focus was put on design.
At the time, it was a big risk to go for contemporary design in the traditional and conservative textile industry. But the company wanted to create a new and personal expression through good design - something that proved to be successful. GANDIABLASCO’s textile collections were very successful and became very popular with customers. Over the years, GANDIABLASCO has continued to explore, experiment, and improve its collections. In the 1990s, the company chose to make a surprising debut in the outdoor furniture category. This would change the direction of the company, and this venture also proved to be successful.
A new brand takes shape
In 2004, José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales began a collaboration with his good friend Mapi Millet. Together with the rest of the company, they started to form the new brand GAN, with the aim of bringing together GANDIABLASCO’s textile production under a single name. GAN, or GAN Furniture, as we know it today, was founded in 2008 under the leadership of Millet. What distinguishes GAN and sets it apart from its competitors is its focus on good craftsmanship: each product is made by hand, one at a time.
Another factor that makes them a truly unique brand is their unbridled curiosity to explore new techniques and designs. As part of this, GAN collaborates with several well-known designers, including the Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola. Together with GAN, she has developed the Garden Layers collection. The products in the series are clearly influenced by the Orient and include tables, rugs, and cushions. At NO GA you will find all the products from the Garden Layers series.
