The Eames Fiberglass Chair DSW belongs to the iconic chair series designed in 1950 by Charles and Ray Eames. The fiberglass seat is much appreciated thanks to its charming and irregular surface. The seat is mounted on a base of four chair legs made of surface-treated maple. Choose from several colors on the seat. The Eames multi-functional chair was first introduced at the "Low Cost Furniture Design" design competition held at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1948. Charles and Ray then presented a chair with a seat that was cast in metal to fit the body's shape and which could be combined with different bases, which gave these pieces of furniture a multitude of different functions and serve different purposes. After the chair was introduced, the couple tried to find an alternative to the metal seat, which resulted in a colorless fiberglass seat. Today, the legendary chairs are manufactured in both fiberglass and plastic by Vitra as a revised design and choice of materials for even higher seating comfort and quality.
