MDF Italia
MDF Italia was established by Bruno Fattorini in Milan, Italy in 1992. The company has a strong entrepreneurial and product strategy that has been with it since day one and is a major part of MDF Italia’s success. The company’s design strategy is the end result of continuously striking a balance between research and development, along with a unique business model.
MDF Italia collaborates with several major international designers to create new products. Production and distribution are all centrally located at the headquarters in Mariano Comense, Italy, and design objects are delivered to 43 countries worldwide. The design is stylish and simple, with a focus on materials and innovative solutions.
Striking a continuous balance between research and development
Many of the collaborations have resulted in iconic collections, including Flow by Jean Marie Massaud, the Lim table by Bruno Fattorini, and the Tense table by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga and Michele Cazzaniga. MDF Italia has also enjoyed major collaborations with Xavier Lust, Neuland, Robin Rizzini, Francesco Bettoni and James Irvine.
These collaborations have resulted in worldwide recognition and numerous awards. In 2011, MDF Italia was awarded the prestigious Compasso d’Oro ADI for the Yale seat by Jean Marie Massaud, and the same year the Tense table designed by architects Piergiorgio and Michele Cazzaniga received honorable mention from Compasso d’Oro ADI. Several of the brand’s design masterpieces have been awarded prizes, including the Aïku chair and the Axy table.
MDF Italia’s design strategy is the end result of continuously striking a balance between research and development, along with a unique business model. The company is at the forefront of both technology and furniture production. Through collaboration with the architect Paola Silva Coronel, several iconic furniture pieces from the MDF Italia range have been given a new and personalized touch with the help of technological innovation. The design is still the same, but refreshing and updating some technical elements makes the furniture unique. MDF Italia believes this to be the future of furniture production.
Cassina of Italy acquired MDF Italia in 2013, and today the brand continues to produce furniture for our contemporary living with a keen eye for trends and innovation. Today, MDF Italia aims to create emotional design objects that make a difference despite their simple, clean styling.
