J42 Chair is a classic chair designed by Børge Mogensen, reproduced here by Danish brand HAY. Danish designer Børge Mogensen (1914-1972) is one of the great twentieth century Danish designers. He is known for his quality furniture and minimalist, strong patterns, with designs recognized by simple, solid lines. The durable construction with pure esthetics and precise proportions personifies Danish modernism. He has previously studied furniture design at the Danish School Of Arts and Crafts, trained as a cabinetmaker and studied architecture, among other things. He later became design director at the Danish cooperative FDB. There he focused on creating well-designed and functional furniture that was industrially produced for the public. HAY has now recreated Mogensen's classic J42 and J41, which were part of the J series he designed during his time at FBD.
