Gense serving cutlery

The Gense brand has been producing top quality cutlery and serving accessories in silver and stainless steel since the late 19th century. Founder Gustav Eriksson started the brand's journey by manufacturing stoves and coffee makers in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The brand's name is actually an abbreviation of Gustav Eriksson NySilverfabrik Eskilstuna. In the years to come, Gense develops into a leader in cutlery and envelope items, both in silver and stainless steel with a high design sensibility. As early as 1929, the first design collaboration with Viking Göransson is established, and there will be many more. The brand also became a supplier to the Swedish Royal Court in 1982, thus proving its high quality.

Gense still produces its cutlery at the factory in Eskilstuna, but the production of stainless steel cutlery has moved beyond the borders of Scandinavia. This is to get closer to raw materials and more modern processes. All stainless steel cutlery undergoes 32 different steps before the final polishing, all to ensure the highest quality.

When the National Museum in Stockholm opens in 2015, Gense will design the Ehra cutlery together with Note Design Studio. Another exciting collaboration is the Nobel cutlery series, created by Swedish designer Gunnar Cyrén for the 90th anniversary of the Nobel Prize.
