Arne Jacobsen created the 4130 Grand Prix chair for Fritz Hansen in 1957 and launched it that year at the Danish Museum of Art Design in Copenhagen during the Designers Spring Exhibition. Later that year, the chair was shown at the Triennale in Milan, where it won the Grand Prix for the show's most distinguished work. Since then, the chair has gone by the same name and has been launched in several versions. 4130 Grand Prix has beautiful wooden legs and comes here with full upholstery in fabric or leather.
Like Arne Jacobsen's Ant and Series 7, Grand Prix is also made of molded veneer. Each chair's shell is created in one piece, consisting of nine layers of veneer and two layers of Indian cotton that have been molded into their correct shape over steam. This gives the chair a comfortable flexibility and a tilted shell provides even softer comfort.
