The family-owned company Cappellini was founded in 1946 in Milan, Italy by Enrico Cappellini. Cappellini is then a small company with no interest in exclusive design but with furniture production and craftsmanship as a specialty. In 1979, Enrico Cappellini's son Giulio Cappellini takes over the company and directs it into what will soon be one of the world's biggest trendsetters in designer furniture.

Today, Cappellini's designs are exhibited in places all over the world, including the Victoria & Albert in London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Pompidou Centre in Paris.
