Meltdown is a series of ceiling lamps created by Johan Lindstén in 2013 for the design brand Cappellini. The lamps are made of hand-blown thin colored glass and have a spherical shape. The lamps can be hung linearly next to each other or in a cluster at different heights. The lamps are available in six different colors: dove, pink, tobacco, light blue, amethyst, and amber. Meltdown mixed colors is a combination of one of each color, including two in pink and amethyst. The inspiration behind the lamps' design came from the catastrophic nuclear accident in Fukushima. The disaster has left its mark on the design where the process is in its final stages and the bulb is about to melt through the last shield of glass.
