The PK1 chair is designed by Poul Kjærholm for Carl Hansen & Søn. Kjærholm used a simple and light design style with a focus on functionality. He was skilled at combining steel with other organic materials. The PK1 was originally made in rattan but is now available in a version with FSC-certified braided paper cord, beautiful from every angle. Carl Hansen & Søn has recreated the braiding technique according to Kjærholm's original design, and it takes a skilled craftsman 15 hours to braid the seat by hand. With its balance of aesthetics, comfort and stability, the PK1 has achieved iconic status through the meeting of industrial steel and braided paper cord.
