The famous designer Alvar Aalto was a pioneer when he created the armchair Lounge Chair 43, which is now produced by the Finnish company Artek. He explored new possibilities in the use of bent wood for furniture production. The shaped and joined layers of birch wood are as robust as metal pipes, but add a warmer atmosphere and a more authentic visual impression.
