001 Stool is a stool designed by Fredrik Paulsen for Finnish Vaarnii. The design language of the stool is a combination of restrained minimalism and exaggerated proportions, which gives the stool a contemporary and at the same time timeless expression. The stool is made of pine; a material that Paulsen describes as "psychedelic" with an allusion to the vibrant and unique grain of each piece of wood. This visual effect is most evident over larger surfaces, says Paulsen – something that can be seen reflected in the design of the stool. Despite the stool's rustic and robust aesthetics, it is designed with everyday life in mind and is therefore easy to move around to create new constellations around the dining table or in the living room.
