Atman is a small decorative table lamp created by Enzo Catellani for Catellani Smith. The lamp is shaped like an oval egg in crystal glass and is handmade in Italy. When lit, the lamp creates a striking light reflection on the wall and ceiling. Atman comes with an integrated LED lightbulb and dimmer function. The glass egg rests on a small discreet nickel base.
Atman is exclusively handmade in Italy, right on the banks of the Serio River in the Bergamo area and results from Enzo Catellani's first experiment with LED lighting. The inspiration behind the experiment comes from the sacred stones that Catellani encountered during a trip to India. He was struck by the colorful and intense culture, where chaos and serenity, suffering and spirituality seemed to reign simultaneously. The name of the lamp comes from the Sanskrit language where Atman means soul.
