In 2003, Verpan acquired the rights to a significant part of Verner Panton’s work and began manufacturing his lighting products. Seven years later, it also began producing furniture. Like Verner Panton, Verpan is part of the Danish design tradition that stands for modern, functional and unique design.

A wide range of Verner Panton’s most popular and original lamps are produced today, not least the world-famous Globe. Verner Panton’s playful and Pop Art-inspired designer furniture and lighting are now modern classics found in homes around the world.

A passionate approach to plastics

Verner Panton had many successful collaborations with other leading designers during his career, such as Arne Jacobsen. Despite this, he sought his own style and was keen to experiment with plastics and other man-made materials to create vibrant objects. Verner Panton believed that the perfect design combines color, shape, and material. The first lamp produced was Topan in 1959. It is an example of the imaginative yet stylish and simple design of the 1960s. Topan is available in a range of colors, and can be mixed and matched, or stand alone.

During the 1980s, Panton collaborated at length with the manufacturer Vitra, resulting in the Panton chair of 1967. The chair was a milestone of 20th-century furniture design. The Panton chair was the first chair to be molded entirely from plastic, in a single piece and at the same time in many bright colors. Panton also invented the first inflatable chair. Verner Panton received many prestigious awards in the 1970s. His relaunched models can be seen in Verpan’s showroom at Egeskovvej 29 in Horsens, Denmark. In February 2017, Verpan’s first store opened in the heart of Aarhus. This was the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the store. The idea was to give customers the opportunity to experience Verner Panton’s unique world and, at the same time, to show a wider selection of products.
