Standard is a contemporary classic, designed by Jean Prouvé and produced by Vitra. The seat and back are available in natural oak, dark oak, or walnut. The frame is available in black, bone white, chocolate brown, coffee brown, or Japanese red.
Jean Prouvé realized that the greatest load is on the two rear legs of a chair, and subsequently designed the Standard chair with significantly stronger rear legs. The two front legs, which carry the least load, are made of thinner steel tubes and the rear ones of thicker metal sections.
