Serax is a Belgian design brand founded by Serge and Axel Van Den Bossche. The brothers started Serax in a garage in 1986 and since then the small-scale business has grown into a multinational company headquartered in Antwerp. Today the company is headed by Axel, Axel's wife Marie Michielssen is the brand's in-house designer. Serax is a family business run with a passionate focus on creating unforgettable moments around the table. The Serax range includes everything from ceramics and tableware to unique designer furniture and décor. In 2014, Henry van de Velde of Serax received the prestigious Beligian Design Award.
A platform for designers
Serax works with designers from many different parts of the world and Serax tableware graces the tables of some of the most popular restaurants in the world. In 1990, the brand began its first collaboration with designer Peter Arts. A year later, Serax gained international attention for its collaboration with floral artist Daniel Ost, who designed "The Flower Booth" for the French design fair Maison & Object. In 2009, the brand begins collaborating with ceramicist Roos van de Velde. The collaboration was very successful and after the launch of her tableware collection, star restaurants from all over the world were queuing up to order her tableware. The brand now supplies its tableware to numerous Michelin restaurants, which use their tableware to enhance the aesthetics of their dishes.
