In 1977 the design classic Atollo Opal was designed by world+famous designer Vico Magistretti for Oluce. With a design that is as simple as it is ingenious, consisting of three geometric shapes: the cylinder, the cone and the hemisphere, it has become a true design icon. Atollo Opal is, as the name suggests, made of opal glass. The lamp comes in three different sizes to serve as a bedside lamp, table lamp and floor lamp. The smallest version, Atollo 236, has three bulbs, while the two larger models, Atollo 235 and Atollo 237, have four bulbs. The Atollo 235 and Atollo 237 also have a universal dimmer cord that makes it easy and convenient to adjust the brightness. In addition to this opal glass version, Atollo Black, Atollo White, Atollo Satin Bronze and Atollo Gold are also available.
Since Atollo Opal was launched, it has become a much-loved classic and revolutionized the way we look at the classic bedside lamp, table lamp and floor lamp. Just two years after its launch, it won the prestigious Compasso dOro award. The lamp has also become part of the permanent collections of several renowned museums, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
