Nendo 1977
Japanese designer Oki Sato, or Nendo as he goes by, was born in Toronto, Canada in 1977 and has become one of the most prominent and respected figures in Japanese design and interior architecture. He moved to Japan where he grew up, and by 2002 he had graduated from Waseda University in Tokyo with a master's degree in architecture as a top student.
At this point, the talented Nendo became more interested in design and set up his first design office, opening one in Milan in 2005 and another in Singapore. Since then, Nendo's career has continued in the right direction, winning awards such as Wallpaper magazine's Designer of the Year in 2012 (the youngest winner ever) and Elle Deco's Designer of the Year. He has also been guest of honour at both the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair and the Toronto Interior Design Show, not to mention 2015, where he won the prestigious "Designer of the Year" award at Maison & Objet in Paris, Europe's largest interior design fair. Nendo has a solid track record of collaborations with Foscarini, DePadova and Louis Poulsen, among others, and with his well-known rounded form and minimalist design, he has contributed to the Maki Pendant Lamp and N01 from Fritz Hansen, which are available in the NO GA range. In addition, Oki Sato and his team have carried out a number of remarkable interior design projects and exhibited furniture at renowned exhibitions in Paris, New York, Milan and London.
As one of Japan's leading designers, Nendo is based in Tokyo and with his stylish design that we at NO GA love, we look forward to seeing future design furniture and interiors from Nendo.
