Lambert & Fils suspension lamps

The Lambert & Fils brand was established in 2010 by Samuel Lambert in Canada and is a collective design studio focused on lighting. Lambert had previously worked in film and graphic design, but shortly after the birth of his son, he changed career path and started Lambert & Fils, a design and crafts company.

The name in French means Lambert and sons, which is a nod to his own childhood in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Lambert often helped his father in the pottery business, and now that he has a son of his own and is taking up the craft, he has come full circle.

Lambert first worked in a small shop in Montreal, after which he designed one of the lamp collections - Beaubien. Over the course of several years, he created a successful design studio. Lambert designs lamps and is inspired by art, design, and architectural history. The founder sought to create lyrical lighting with simple styling, without sacrificing the complexity of the design.

Poetic lighting and complex design

The brand works hard on customer service and feels that lighting is something personal, so Lambert & Fils creates lighting for customers and for different purposes. For example, Lambert & Fils designed the lighting for the Maison du Luc house in Magog, Quebec, in 2015. Maison du Luc was awarded the American Architecture Prize for the house shortly afterwards. The design studio has also designed lighting for numerous restaurants and cafés in the Quebec region, including lighting for the café at the Grande Bibliothèque in Montreal in 2016, and a custom pendant lamp inspired by the Beaubien range for the Jatoba restaurant, Montreal, in 2014.

Lambert & Fils has a growing range of stylish as well as interesting lighting in several collections. All designed according to the same design principle but with different expressions and materials. The design concept is simple, industrial, and the design studio aims to create lyrical lighting with a complexity of design. The lighting is atmospheric and is intended to create a sense of permanence in a room. An outstanding collection in the range is Beaubien, with lighting made from an elegant combination of materials. The Beaubien lamps are stylish, with graphic esthetics created with inspiration from traditional Chinese picture frames and the Memphis group.

In 2017, Lambert & Fils exhibited at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. The exhibition was a major showcase for the brand, with lighting from the Laurent and Mile collections attracting positive attention. Today, Samuel Lambert, together with innovative and young designers, continues to produce modern lighting for customers around the world.
