Jehs + Laub umbrella stands & shoe horns

Jehs + Laub is a design duo consisting of Markus Jehs and Jürgen Laub. They met at Schwabisch Gmund University where they both studied industrial design. In 1990, the duo interned together in New York and became close friends.

After graduating in 1994, they set up Jehs + Laub together at home in Stuttgart, where they immediately began designing both lighting and furniture for the Italian brands Cassina, Nemo and Ycami. Over the years they expanded and became internationally recognised in the industry and started working with more and more brands such as Thonet, MDF Italia, Fritz Hansen, Knoll and Schönbuch among others. They have also designed several interiors including the famous "Suite 606" at the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi.

Jehs + Laub is all about being true to the form, material and function of the object, according to Jürgen, the function has its own aesthetic, and that in itself leads to a high-quality result. The duo carefully choose the partners they want to work with, it is important that they share the same design values and vision. Cultural influences are important to the duo, although their designs are rooted in the German mindset, they are shaped by experiences from other cultures such as the American and Italian. The duo wants to keep evolving, and they do so by being curious about other cultures.
