Nelson Apple Bubble is a white pendant from HAY, designed by George Nelson in a shape reminiscent of an apple. However, the shape is only one of many in the large Nelson Bubble collection that was designed in 1952. The idea behind the lamps came when George Nelson was flipping through the newspaper one morning, and saw how entire ships were covered in a thin protective fabric. He was thus one of the first to spin a web over a light metal frame, when many similar classics only saw the light of day in the 1960s.
The Nelson Apple Bubble is only available in the size medium, unlike many of the other models in the series. A positive detail, however, is that the different shapes harmonize extremely well in groups, which means that you can nicely combine this lamp with other models in different sizes. Common to all of them are the tasteful details in nickel.
