The modern and stylish side table PK71 is designed by Poul Kjærholm and belongs to The Kjærholm Collection, which was developed in the early 1950s until the end of the 60s. Upon the designer's death in 1980, the Danish furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen took over the collection and began manufacturing all the iconic furniture designed by the Dane. The young cabinetmaker started at Fritz Hansen after his studies at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts and showed a great interest in steel furniture, which he himself considered to be a natural material due to its many properties. For a year, he worked for Fritz Hansen and developed several furniture prototypes. Poul Kjærholm's design language was minimalist and he mainly used steel, glass and leather when creating his timeless and elegant furniture.

The PK71 side table consists of three tables that can be pushed under each other. The top comes in acrylic with a base in satin-brushed stainless steel. The table's design is playful in its character, the small and abstract tables are dynamic and functional in that they invite you to move them around a little wherever you want. The shape of the tables represents the first time Kjærholm used the square in all three dimensions in his work and PK71 is seen as the predecessor to the designer's more complex tables.
