Challieres
Mathieu Challières is a French designer who began his career in design in 1997. After working as a copywriter for several years at several major advertising agencies, he decided to leave the industry to pursue his passion for creating and designing furniture.
His first step was to attend the Maison & Objet fair in Paris, where he showcased bookcases and lamps based on his own imagination, but also on his own experience. He managed to sell two chandeliers, which to many may not seem like much, but to Mathieu it was a big win. He rented an apartment in central Paris and created his first custom chandeliers with the unique name Holalà, Aîe Aîe Aîe. In 2006, he launched the Volières, collection, which included lampshades made of fine copper wire and a colony of birds with real feathers.
Drawing inspiration from the Baroque era
Mathieu Challières is a genuine designer who draws his inspiration and creativity from classic Baroque and contemporary styles. He often uses a variety of materials to create his works, such as plaster, fabric, metal, and laminate. All production takes place in France, primarily in Belleville, where he has his own workshop. But it’s not just in his home country that Challières has made great strides, with sales abroad accounting for more than 65% of his sales.
