The Soriana 2 Seater was designed back in 1970 by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for the Italian brand Cassina. The iconic sofa set the tone for a new type of upholstered furniture as it lacks a typical internal metal structure and is instead held together by the metal frame on the outside. The padding consists of BioFoam, a plant-based foam made of polystyrene and wadding fiber, developed by Tobia Scarpa and Cassina LAB. The material allows shaping the products into its unique design language that gives a relaxed but at the same time sophisticated feeling in the home. The padding is a more environmentally friendly alternative to the polyurethane used previously, one of many steps in Cassina's sustainability work and vision for the future. The comfortable seat consists of 100% recycled fibers produced from PET from Plastic Bank.
