LC4 Leather is an iconic adjustable-frame chair from Italian company Cassina, created by designer trio Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand in 1928 and put into production by Cassina in 1965. The chair is part of the popular LC collection, which can be seen in Cassina's I Maestri catalog. The LC4 became famous thanks to an innovative design that combined several varied materials and shapes into a harmonious whole. The shell has a restful leather cover, which is complemented by a cylindrical neck cushion, both of which are padded with polyester. The accompanying neck cushion comes in black leather.
The seat rests on a rounded, rigid frame with a curved surface, which is placed on a four-legged base that allows the seat's tilt to be adjusted. The LC4 Leather is one of the most advanced adjustable wheels of modern times. The inspiration for the design was the idea that function and form should be paramount when it comes to relaxation. The design trio created a precise balance between the geometrical and ergonomic frame of the chair. The classic LC series stands alone in the design world.
The original model was created by the designer trio Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand in 1928. It was exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in Paris in 1929. The collaboration of the French designer trio resulted in several pieces that were distinguished by high quality, elaborate shapes and worked as well in the marketplace as they do today.
