LC1 was designed in 1928 by the French design trio Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand. The design trio were all part of the L'Union des Artistes Modernes movement, which was run by French modernist architects and artists. The LC1 has a steel frame in either chrome or black and a leather cover. The armrest of the chair consists of leather straps in the same color as the seat. However, this does not apply to the Hairyskin versions, which have contrasting armrests in black leather.
The driving force behind the design trio's creation of the chair was to create a simple and durable design without any elaborate embellishments. The LC1 is a successful result of that philosophy and has been made in three different versions. They offer both style and great comfort. This version of the LC1 was shown for the first time at the Salon d'Automne in 1929 and was put into general production in 2011.
