Wooden Chair is an armchair designed in 1992 by the Australian designer Marc Newson. The chair is, apart from stainless screws, made of beech wood. It is a good example of Newson's quest to explore the limits of natural materials. Smooth sheets of beech wood have been steam-bent to form a curve or alpha-like shape that wraps around to form a comfortable seat and a supportive back at the same time. The wooden boards have been strengthened with a horizontal tension at each end and at points around the curve in the middle.
Wooden Chair is a piece of furniture with high comfort and an eye-catching design. It adds an organic and living feeling in different environments and fits particularly well in living rooms and conservatories.
