The S Chair is a chair with character designed in 1991 by Tom Dixon for Italian Cappellini. The recognizable chair with its distinctive serpentine curves has a basic steel construction that gives way slightly when you sit in it. The rattan or white straw claw is made entirely by hand by a specialist Italian craftsman. For the undercarriage, Dixon found inspiration from a steering wheel. From the round foot, a curved structure runs up through the entire body, on either side. Underneath the foot are four black plastic belt covers to prevent scratches.

The S Chair has been shown at many exhibitions, including MOMA in New York and V&A in London. The S Chair will be appreciated in the homes and rooms it is placed in thanks to its unique shape. It is equally at home as a dining chair, separately from a round table, or as a relaxing chair.
