With a keen eye for simplicity

What started with the design of a villa ended with an iconic chair. Artist and architect Jørgen Rasmussen turned out to be a great designer, with the Kevi chair as his masterpiece. Now Montana presents the versatile chair, which is as relevant today as it was in 1958.

After graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' architecture programme in 1955, Jørgen Rasmussen and his twin brother Ib embarked on a distinguished career in design and architecture. Their first major project was to design a villa for the Danish company KEVI.

This commission proved to be an excellent opportunity for the brothers to showcase their design skills and technical knowledge. The work on the villa was carefully considered and thought out, resulting in a building that was both practical and aesthetically pleasing. That success laid the foundation for their future successes, including the creation of the famous chair that was subsequently designed for the building.

Jørgen's skills as a designer were truly expressed through his work on the Kevi chair. With his intuitive understanding of functionality and aesthetics, he showed that design can be both practical and visually appealing. The Kevi chair soon became an icon in office design.

The better you sit, the more you get done.

The strength of the Kevi chair lies in its combination of simplicity and comfort, with a thoughtful design that meets user needs while maintaining a visually appealing profile. Even today, Kevi is a sought-after object among design lovers and stands as a testament to Jørgen Rasmussen's talent and vision.
