A knife set from Yaxell that includes a classic chef's knife and a utility knife. The chef's knife is ideal for cutting, chopping and dicing most ingredients. The utility knife is better suited for precision work such as chopping onions, chillies, herbs and smaller fruits. Ran, which means "the excellent" in Japanese, is a fitting name for this series of knives. The blades consist of 69 layers of damascus steel, with a core of hard VG10 steel and outer layers of softer, rust-resistant steel. This gives the knives extreme sharpness that lasts a long time. The blades are hammered and polished to create a beautiful grain. The degree of hardness is 60–62 HRC. The handles are made of black micarta, which is a hard, water-resistant and hygienic material. The handles are attached with two strong steel rivets and have a stainless button at the end for perfect balance.
